London [UK], October 28: Renowned English fast bowler James Anderson has been knighted, recognizing his exceptional contributions to the England cricket team. This honor marks the culmination of a remarkable 22-year international career, during which he achieved a record 704 Test wickets, the highest for any fast bowler in Test cricket history.
With this prestigious title, Anderson joins the ranks of other cricketing legends such as Sir Ian Botham, Sir Geoffrey Boycott, Sir Alastair Cook, and Sir Andrew Strauss, solidifying his legacy as one of England's finest cricketers.
In a post on X, Lancashire Cricket celebrated the occasion, stating, "Arise, Sir James Anderson! A special day for @jimmy9 as he received his knighthood from Princess Anne at Windsor Castle! The greatest fast bowler to ever do it."

Anderson also holds the record as England's top wicket-taker in One Day Internationals (ODIs), with an impressive 269 wickets, a feat that may remain unmatched. However, his T20 International appearances were limited, with only 18 wickets in 19 matches, the last of which was against South Africa in 2009.
His expertise in red-ball cricket, particularly in swing and reverse swing bowling, has been a hallmark of his career. He made his Test debut against Zimbabwe at Lord's and is set to conclude his playing days at the same iconic venue.
One of the highlights of his career was his remarkable performance of 6/17 against Pakistan in the first Test at Trent Bridge in 2010, which left many Pakistani batsmen in awe.
Since debuting at Lord's in 2003, Anderson has concluded his illustrious career with 704 Test wickets, trailing only behind legendary spinners Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708).
